Safety Technician
This opportunity is a permanent job located in Albany, NY. Salary is flexible and commensurate with experience.

Our client is a biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. In addition to a research laboratory they also operate a large-scale biologics pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Albany, NY area.


Primary Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

* Conducting and/or coordinating environmental health and safety (EHS) training sessions
* Responding to and coordinating life safety system activations and testing
* Oversight of and assistance of contracted personnel with general site and safety and environmental compliance
* Interaction with regulatory agencies
* Maintenance of safety supplies and personal protective equipment
* Help to coordinate emergency response efforts
* Assistance in implementation of EHS SOPs, policies, plans and programs
* Adherence to current good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)


Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

* Current knowledge of chemical hazards and hazardous waste handling relative specific to Plant operations
* Current knowledge of operations and implementation of life safety systems
* Current knowledge of chemical and biological spill emergency response
* Solid word processing, spreadsheet and database management software and programs
* Ability to interpret technical data and drawings
* BS in Environmental Science or a pertinent scientific field and 2+ years of EHS experience
